Quick Summary: For anyone who travels often, Tripit is a effective resource in organizing your schedule.

It did not take me very long to get accustomed to using tripit. At first, I was skeptical to say the least. You first sign up and then all you have to do it send emails to an email address “” Who was I sending my emails to? Couldn’t they mess with my itinerary?

But after about a month of use, I’m very happy that I took that initial leap of faith. Here’s what you do:

  1. Book your flights, hotels, car rentals, etc. on their normal websites.
  2. When you receive the confirmation email, you forward that confirmation to
  3. Tripit will then organize your schedule in a very nice and neat manner.

It is especially helpful, when you have multiple leg flights or layovers. It will continue to provide you with updates. Shockingly, one day I received a delay of flight notification from tripit. After about an hour, I received that same notification from United. Tripit is more responsive and delivers very quick notifications. +1

Tripit Pro will keep track of your mileage and your points for all of your airline programs. I no longer have to view multiple websites to see how many points I’ve accumulated and how to spend them. +2

At airports, the quickest way to check in the kiosks is by the airline confirmation number. Tripit shows this number right next to the flight entry. +3

Tripit shows maps and directions to the locations you need to go. +4

When you begin changing your itinerary, airlines screw up the algorithm in which is displays. In response, tripit will automatically change itineraries based on the information from the airline. This can be both an advantage and disadvantage. The advantage is to see your flight. The disadvantage is that your flight segments appear all out of order and your schedule is messed up. -1 for me

Overall, its a great resource. I no longer have to make excel spreadsheets laying out all of my flights, the addresses to the locations and hotels, etc. It is extremely convenient as long as you don’t have to alter your flights.
