I have been training my replacement for the past couple weeks and it is one of the most mind numbingly challenging tasks over the course of my five years. Encapsulating five years of experience, know-how, and knowledge and compressing it into two weeks is nearly impossible. Don’t get me wrong, I have spent numerous preparing for this prior to my successor’s arrival (e.g. creating summarizing documents, sales logs, etc.), but we, as humans, need time to assimilate such a high volume of information.
I have reviewed the most vital information with my replacement twice; however, retaining patience for him not understanding the information makes me irritable. I need to be more sympathetic and deliver this information in a more effective method. I need to be more patient.
